Singer Philippe Elan and pianist Gregor Bak have been a musical duo for years. During this concert they will play the most beautiful French chansons, from Jacques Brel and Charles Aznavour to Jean Ferrat and Édith Piaf. They recently played several times in a sold-out Concertgebouw, of which live recordings can be heard on Chansons – Live at the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam .

In June 2021, ‘Les Vacances’ was released, a duet by Philippe with soprano Francis van Broekhuizen, written especially for them by Gregor.

Philippe Elan was born in Gascony, France and came to live in the Netherlands in 1986. In that year he made a flying start by winning the chanson competition of the Alliance Française. Since then he has been a much-seen interpreter of the French chanson, with which he can be seen in the theaters year after year, together with accompanist Reyer Zwart.

Philippe is often a guest on radio and TV programs where he advocates French song.

He received an Edison for the album ‘Chansons Classiques’.

After studying musicology at the State University of Utrecht, Gregor Bak worked as a music teacher, pianist, composer and conductor. For example, he was the conductor of the Oeral Cossack Choir from 1993 until the summer of 2023. From 1992 he presented the classical music program C-Majeur for NCRV television, after which he also presented programs such as Schoolstrijd, Thank you for the music and Zo Vader Zo Zoon.

As a pianist he accompanies soprano Francis van Broekhuizen in her theatre programmes ‘Bij Twijfel Hard Zingen’ and ‘Scandalig mooie opera’ and chansonnier Philippe Elan.
