This year marks six hundred years since the construction of the Zuiderkerk in Enkhuizen began.
For this reason, various activities have been organised. One of these is a special exhibition in the Zuiderkerk with documents, prints, photos, objects and paintings from that long history.
Quite a few prominent painters have immortalized the Zuiderkerk. A number of paintings by Cornelis Springer (1817 –1891), Willem B. Tholen (1860 –1931), Willem Koekkoek (1839 – 1895), Piet Egmond (1862-1908) have been made available by private individuals for this exhibition. In addition, one of the latest acquisitions of the Zuiderzee Museum can be seen: the interior of the Zuiderkerk by Anthonie Waldorp (1802 – 1866). The original paintings can be seen during Open Monument Day: September 14 from 11 am to 4 pm and September 15 from 12 pm to 4 pm. Afterwards, full-size reproductions will be shown.
After the Monument Weekend, the exhibition can be seen until November 26 on Saturdays from 12 noon to 4 pm.
This exhibition was made possible in part by the Enkhuizen Business Fund.
