The beauty of Enkhuizen will be celebrated in a special way this fall with an exhibition and a photo book. Yvonne Gruis (photography) and Suzan Keene (ceramics) are inspired by what they see around them every day when they take a walk in the city, over the fortress, along the harbors, the canals and the IJsselmeer. The special light, the colors of the skies, clouds and water, the historical facades and ships, are all sources of inspiration for them.

Yvonne wants to transform the known, ordinary, obvious reality into
special images that encourage wonder, cherish and admire the portrayed subject. This can be a door, but also a color, a flower or a shape. She invites more awareness, better looking and appreciation.
She collected her most beautiful photos in the book Enkhuizen de oude stad. The 124-page book is for sale at the VVV.

Susan makes various ceramic objects that are of special color, she chooses in
this exhibition for colours of water and light, serene or clear but still lovely. She often uses familiar forms and adds something extra. Her ceramic design is of her own interpretation, but always also usable in daily life: a vase, a lamp, a beautiful bowl or dish. The work offered is for sale, but not made with a commercial purpose.
The artists have in common that they have been working as autonomous artists for many years, the urge to create comes from within, but is also fed by their environment. In this way they make the viewer a participant in their world and a co-observer of the world.
