Double concert Oratorio Association Voice and Strings connects past and present with music full of comfort and hope

On Saturday, November 15, 2025, the Oratorio Society Stem en Snaren will perform a special double concert in Enkhuizen: Joseph Haydn’s Timpani Mass and Karl Jenkins’ Requiem. Both works combine social engagement with music full of comfort and hope.

Haydn’s Missa in tempore belli was composed in a time of political turmoil. The thundering timpani evoke the tension of war, but the music also exudes spirituality and hope – values that remain relevant today.

Jenkins’ Requiem is groundbreaking: the Latin mass is interwoven with Japanese haikus about transience and nature. With two sopranos, an alto, and oriental percussion, a soundscape of tranquility and connection is created.

The overall management is in the hands of conductor Marcel Joosen.

Philharmonia Amsterdam will provide the musical accompaniment.

The following soloists will participate: Frans Fiselier (bass), Peter Vos (tenor), Merel van Schie (alto), Dana Koppes (soprano) and Ilse Doorenspleet (soprano).

Location: the Westerkerk in Enkhuizen – Time: 8 p.m.

Tickets €17.50 (youth up to 25), €35.00, or €55.00 (VIP, reserved seating in the first three rows). All tickets include a drink during the intermission and a program booklet.
