The band Chicago Stompers is currently the most famous and well-known Italian hot jazz group in the world. The only (and very young) ensemble, consisting of 10 gentlemen and 1 lady, that specializes in the repertoire of the orchestras that were active in the US and Europe at the time between 1924 and 1933. The repertoire, which varies from the most famous to the lesser-known traditional titles, it is performed via transcriptions and arrangements that include the original orchestrations. To achieve this goal as closely as possible, they use old musical instruments.
The repertoire was created through special studies, through careful and sincere listening to 78 rpm records, of the instrumental and vocal techniques of that period. In addition, the films and ‘short films’ of jazz orchestras produced between the 1920s and 1930s were analyzed.
But the appearance of the band, the clothing and the stage presentation are also completely of that time. So, get ready for a completely authentic show with a striking dose of cheerful humor. The Chicago Stompers are not only known in the circuit of the most important Italian and foreign jazz clubs, but have also successfully participated in renowned musical ones.
