The Klipper Race is a sailing event for traditional sailing ships on the IJsselmeer. The competition is held every year in October off the coast of Enkhuizen. The race consists of two parts: the Three Cities Race and the Olympic track.
Contest
The race consists of two races. The famous Three Cities Race will be sailed on Saturday. This race starts with the spectacular anchor start in the Krabbersgat near Enkhuizen. Then two of the three designated buoys must be rounded. These buoys are located near Medemblik, Stavoren and Urk. The finish is again in the Krabbersgat.
On Sundays a trapezium track is sailed. The two classes start immediately after each other and the tracks partly overlap, so that the field remains well together throughout the race to allow the participants to experience a great competition.
