This year the Koopkorenfestival welcomes 1000 singers in Enkhuizen!
On Saturday 5 October, a large choir spectacle will take place in the historical shopping centre of Enkhuizen. No less than 28 choirs will be performing; singing groups from the West Friesland region and from far beyond. A varied range of choir music has been programmed, from a stage-filling pop group to an intimate ensemble with cheerful Irish folk songs. From richly matured singing entertainers to mini singers from the local children’s choir.
At 10:30 the festival will be opened in the Westerkerk by Swaegh Zingt from Zwaag. This will be followed by a singing relay in the Westerkerk, restaurant De Eendracht (formerly Van Bleiswijk), the Zuiderkerk and at three outdoor locations in the Westerstraat. The locations with performances can be recognized by a red Koopkoren flag.
According to tradition, the festival will be closed at 16:30 in the Westerkerk. Of course, singing with as many choir singers and the audience as possible, led by conductor Ria van Bijnen. In a well-filled church, that sounds overwhelming!
