Maritime song festival De Enkhuizer Sjappetouwtjes

Saturday 28 September 2024

On Saturday afternoon, September 28, 2024, 1:00 PM, De Nieuwe Doelen in Enkhuizen will become the stage for a special singing and music event. To celebrate its 25th anniversary, the well-known shanty and sailor’s choir De Enkhuizer Sjappetouwtjes will organize a unique Maritime Singing Festival there. This will take place from 1:00 PM.

Shanty and sailor choir De Enkhuizer Sjappetouwtjes has entertained and moved audiences in many places in the Netherlands over the past 25 years with its catchy songs about the sea, the sailor, sailing and fishing. These songs were (and are) often introduced with nice chats about the interesting Enkhuizer sailing and fishing history.

During the Maritime Singing Festival, the jubilee choir, named after the Enkhuizen VOC sailors, will perform its well-known repertoire and some beautiful new songs.

The great thing about the festival is that, in addition to De Enkhuizer Sjappetouwtjes, other maritime choirs and folk groups from Enkhuizen will also perform. These are fishwives choir Dullegriet, folk group Reuring and singing group Harry’s Herrie. These ensembles will treat the audience to a unique mix of captivating shanties, sailor and fishermen’s songs to rousing folk.

The Maritime Singing Festival is a fun singing and music festival for everyone. That is why admission is free for all visitors.

Don’t miss it and come to De Nieuwe Doelen, Spoorstaat 2 in Enkhuizen on Saturday afternoon, September 28 from 1:00 PM to celebrate with the jubilee Sjappetouwtjes and enjoy the performing maritime Enkhuizen choirs and groups.
