TASTE the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and enjoy 17th-century biscuits!
The Mirac Ensemble presents an unprecedented program in which the music of Johann Sebastian Bach is presented as a gastronomic menu. Music and culinary art are intertwined in their virtuoso delicacy and passion for stimulating the senses. And, especially in Bach’s time, people were experimenting with many new recipes and new musical forms. Inspirations that transcended national borders. The ensemble carefully selected flavorful musical dishes from Bach’s kitchen to create a menu that will convey Bach’s story in the aromas, timbres, and colors of his voice.
Each composition references one of the culinary delicacies of the Baroque period, as representations of good taste. As a surprising element in this program, the ensemble performs a new piece by contemporary composer Kimball Huigens, who, with this composition, engages in a musical dialogue with the old master.
To really get a glimpse of the gastronomic highlights of Bach’s time, Ursula Dütschler will serve biscuits she baked according to a 17th-century recipe during the intermission.
