The 50th edition of the Enkhuizen Clipper Race will be held from October 10th to 12th, 2025. Additional activities will be organized to mark this anniversary. More information will follow soon!

The first Enkhuizen Clipper Race

Ten participants lined up at the first Enkhuizen Clipper Race in 1975, a number that quickly grew. In its heyday, there were 55 boats. The Clipper Race remains a household name in sailing. It’s one of the most spectacular and professional sailing races, featuring traditional inland vessels, not only from the IJsselmeer ports and Friesland, but also from Groningen and Overijssel.

Competition

The race itself consists of two races. On Saturday, the famous Three Cities Race will be sailed. This race begins with a spectacular anchor start in the Krabbersgat near Enkhuizen. Then, two of the three designated buoys must be rounded. These buoys are located near Medemblik, Stavoren, and Urk. The finish is again in the Krabbersgat.

On Sunday, a trapezoid course will be sailed. The two classes will start directly after each other, and the courses will partially overlap, keeping the field together throughout the race, ensuring a fantastic racing experience for the participants. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Enkhuizer Klipperrace. It will be held from October 9th to 12th, 2025.
