The Royal Municipal Band of Enkhuizen presents: Maestro – a musical spectacle in which six Maestros from Enkhuizen compete against each other.
Six well-known Enkhuizen residents – Marcel Doezie, Petra Hoost, Claas Huisman, Willem Hansen, Mayor Jeltje Hoekstra-Sikkema, and Nynke Volbeda – are stepping out of their comfort zones and taking their places on the rostrum. This is no joke, but serious business: under the guidance of conductors Ria van Bijnen and Henk Ummels, the Maestros have already received an intensive coaching day, during which they were introduced to music theory, percussion technique, and the art of conducting.
On Friday evening, the audience decides who will take home the Audience Award. On Saturday evening, the Maestros are judged by both the professional jury and the audience, and the orchestra also votes for their favorite.
Our very own “Frits Sissing” Robin Visser takes the audience through the stories, preparations and achievements of these brave conductors.
Who can best inspire the orchestra? Who keeps a cool head when the wind section kicks in? And above all: who will be crowned the Maestro of Enkhuizen 2026?
